Slaughtershouse Sunday

What would a Sunday be without loud metalcore music, violence and some curse words? Well it wouldn't a Sunday with the new Bury Your Dead video for their song "Slaughterhouse Five". Watch it below, break a bottle over somebody's head, then go ask for forgiveness.

The new Bury Your Dead CD is called "Mosh & Roll" and is due Aug 2nd.

Top of the Weekend

I'm heading down to Jackson, MS today for the big 2nd annual Top of the Hops beer festival and I'm quite stoked about it. They have a lot of good breweries on hand and I'm holdin' a VIP ticket to get in the event an hour early and it also gives me access to a few special beers plus some extra food. And you know I need extra food and special beers.

Atlanta Brewing Company, Abita, Bayou Teche, Lazy Magnolia, Diamond Bear, Mendocino, Tommyknocker, Tallgrass, Shipyard, Stephens Point, Widmer, Yazoo.... all of these and more will be on hand to make my day a fuzzy one. And if that's not enough, check out the giveaway. One lucky winner (moi!) will be taking this table full home:

Um... yeah. I need that big pile of beer to complete me. It's even called the "Mound of Love". If I win I'm going to surround myself with them in my hotel bed when I sleep.

I'll try to take a few pics and so forth as I attempt to taste every brew in the building. There are also beer seminars, food pairings and live music.

And yes, I have the phone number of a taxi company in Jackson already.

Travis Barker Goes Off

Travis Barker is still one of my favorite drummers in the world right now (possibly next to Morgan Rose from Sevendust). Check out Travis' new video performing "Let's Go" featuring Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes & Lil Jon.

If I were cool and hip I'd say something like "it's off da hook!" or some such thing. But I'm neither cool nor hip... so I'll just say I find this particular music video satisfactory to my liking.

Murfreesboro's Finest

Former Nashville Star winner Chris Young was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and played "You" and "Lost"... both off his third studio album, Neon, which was released on July 12, 2011. Pay attention, this kid has had 4 #1 songs in a row on the country charts.

Sports Win Compilation

Another great video from EpicWinPlanet. You've seen plenty of these probably, but they're still great. Granted, a lot of these are just hot dogging showoffs... but hell it's still entertaining. Amiright? Personal favorites of mine are the ping-pong one, the dude making the goalie look like a total idiot and of course the dodgeball one where the guy gets his head blown off. Um, yeah, so you're out.

Movie Review: Fertile Ground

Synopsis: Emily and Nate Weaver leave the city for the rural comfort of Nate's ancestral home in the country. Once there, Emily is plagued by horrifying visions and haunted by the ghosts inhabiting their isolated new home.

The story isn't too bad but you've seen all of this before so I was hoping they'd do something to make it stand out a bit. No such luck. It's often boring with only a few jump scares, thanks mainly to very loud "music", and borrows from every other haunted house film you've seen probably.

The lead actress pretty much needs to carry the movie with all her screen time and I just found her really unpleasant. Right off the bat you do get a nice topless, close-up of her and she does have quite the bod, but her voice annoyed me and the fact that the entire movie she was mopey and whiny about everything had me hating her. I like my female leads to have some moxy and stand up for themselves. Her character was just pitiful and depressing. She's also supposed to be a clothing designer and she dressed sloppy and often like she was partially retarded, and I really wanted her to wash her hair for the entire film.

Then the logic (or lack thereof) for the whole thing. They move to an old house that's in the family and proceed to discover there were at least 5 murders there, including family members. Didn't know about that? And after finding a skull buried in the yard and hearing of all the murder, death and evil there... 99% of the people on the planet would move. Especially after 1 strange incident. Hell I wouldn't even pack probably. Of course, another murder occurs while they're there but it's written off as accidental. Yes, accidentally getting thrown (not falling) from an upstairs window. No police seem concerned about it either.

Anyway, pretty much 1 big cliche... a few scares that you see coming a mile away if you watch haunted house movies, not much violence (1 big stabby scene), an overly long sex scene and a boobie scene in the first 10 seconds. That's about it. It does have a satifactory ending though and the production values are good. Not a total waste of time but don't get your hopes up for too much.
