Abu Dhabi Pro & ADCC Trials - Confused?

Abu Dhabi Pro & ADCC Trials - Confused? So are lots of people
This is a situation that has been growing and becoming more confused as time goes on. With the advent of the Abu Dhabi Pro, the newly (2 years+) formed pro BJJ league that has been expanding at break neck pace with great success, there has been a growing confusion. The confusion starts mostly because two great events are sponsored by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, by brothers Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. These two patrons of BJJ and submission grappling have done wonders for the sports, but as their organizations expand and the trials proliferate lots of competitors and fans are confused about which is which? So here is a quick run down:
The ADCC World Submission Fighting Championships was created by HH Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 1998 as a way to allow competitors of different grappling arts to compete in a neutral rules environment. The main event are held every two years in different parts of the World and trials are conducted in the off years. This event is called ADCC World Submission Fighting Championships or ADCC
The World Pro BJJ League was created by HH Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan as a Pro league of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events. The rules are generally similar to the IBJJF. The league's main events occur in Abu Dhabi every year. Trials are held throughout the World as well. This event is called World Pro BJJ League.
Still confused? Show up on each event and check out the differences. A couple of things are for certain, both organizations are top notch and we are lucky to have both brothers Sheiks as patrons and to have these events
