I love the music they chose for this one and it reminds me a lot of the old Looney Toons that I grew up watching (and still do). Great stuff!

We're getting closer now to the visit from the holly, jolly one. I've actually gotten all my shopping done, shockingly, so now I can just get to the point where it's all about holiday beer, eggnog, visiting family, my favorite holiday songs and holiday beer (yes, again).

In my opinion, last night's episode of Saturday Night Live was the best of the season so far. I'm not surprised really though, Jimmy Fallon was the host and I love Fallon. Michael Buble was the musical guest and I think this was the best bit of the night...

Twisted Christmas Video

Check out the total cheesy 80s feel of this Twisted Sister video of "O Come All Ye Faithful". Could it be both the worst and greatest Christmas video ever made, at the same time? Could be, but it's definitely pretty comical while still rocking.

I'd like to personally ask Santa for something... that the woman who stars in this never acts anywhere again. But still, nothing says Christmas quite like ugly men dressed like women playing metal versions of Christmas songs. Well, at least not at my house.

A Christmas Gift From Faith Hill

If you love your Christmas songs sung by stunningly beautiful women with beautiful voices, then I think you'll like this one. Faith Hill performs "What Child is This" on HDNet Concerts. (I realize it says "Joy To The World" on the video... but hey I didn't upload the thing. I'm just sharing it.)

Christmas With The King

Although this is mislabeled as 1965, it's from the '68 Comeback Special obviously. It's a classic Christmas song from Elvis, "Blue Christmas". I have this on DVD and think it was when he was at his peak, which shocked a lot of people as he was just coming off of some of his horrible movie years. The black leather, the intimate performance, the awesome vocals... it doesn't get much better than this for my money. Enjoy.

Movie Review: The Christmas Tale (2005)

Films to Keep You Awake: The Christmas Tale (2005)
Películas para no dormir: Cuento de navidad (Spain... original title)

Synopsis: In 1985, in a coastal town, a group of young friends stumble upon a woman dressed like Santa Claus trapped in a hole in the woods. They discover that the woman is the dangerous thief who has just stolen two million pesetas from a bank and is wanted. The group decides to leave the woman in the hole without any food to force her to give the stolen money to them. Oh yeah, they also decide to have a voodoo ceremony to transform her into a zombie. Seems like a good idea right?

A fairly original and very dark and bleak film, it does a decent job of blending black humor with some horror. The young teens are cruel, abusive and really have a complete lack of innocence all except for the young girl of the group, so at least you sort of have someone to pull for. Otherwise it'd easily fall into the category of one of those films where I just didn't like anybody, although it's easy to feel sorry for the lady in the pit. All the young actors do a nice job here, especially the one playing the young girl.

There are lots of nods to the 80s, especially The Karate Kid and The Goonies, and there's a schlocky zombie-movie-within-a-movie going on that's sort of fun. There's not a whole lot of gore to speak of really.

It's a decent, unsettling little heist-gone-wrong/revenge movie with a zombie twist... sort of. Not a whole lot to do with Christmas if that's what you're looking for.
