UFC on FX 1 is Tonight!

Tonight is the debut of the UFC on it's new friend, the FX network (and some on Fuel TV). They're bringing a live card from Nashville and while there's no real standout of a fight, I see some guys I do like to watch in the cage, including both guys in the main event, so it should be worth the time. The main event could surprise me, but I fully expect Jim Miller to take Melvin down and submit him so maybe it won't be too exciting. Who knows? Bang Ludwig against Josh Neer will probably be fight of the night though. And Pat Berry is always entertaining and a recent favorite of mine.

Here's more info.

UFC on FX 1: Guillard vs. Miller

Main Card (FX)
Melvin Guillard vs. Jim Miller
Duane "Bang" Ludwig vs. Josh Neer
Mike Easton vs. Jared Papazian
Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft

Prelims (Fuel TV)
Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Kamal Shalorus
Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts
Fabricio Camoes vs. Tommy Hayden
Daniel Pineda vs. Pat Schilling
Nick Denis vs. Joseph Sandoval

"Two very different fighters, one shared gameplan: See who makes the first mistake. Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller break down their headlining bout at UFC® on FX."

"Christian Morecraft is bringing his A-game to Music City with plans to submit kickboxer Pat Barry, but Barry says their past opponents give him the edge."

UFC 141 Is Gonna Cause The Earth To Rumble

With all the free fights on TV now, it's been a long time since I actually ordered a pay-per-view and I believe I've only gotten 1 all year. But UFC 141 tonight is so explosive there's no way I'm going to miss this. And if you don't get the pay-per-view I'm pretty sure that when Brock and Alistair hook up in the main event you will feel the earth shaking. Talk about 2 massive monsters.

And I'm nearly just as excited about Cowboy Cerrone vs Nate Diaz.

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)
• Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem
• Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz
• Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks
• Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko

• Danny Castillo vs. Anthony Njokuani

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

UFC 139 Tonight! Cung Le Is Back!

I used to like boxing, believe it or not, and then along came mixed-martial-arts and I never went back. One of the biggest reasons? I'd pay a bunch for a boxing pay-per-views and get a lot of nobodies on the undercard and then there was 1 big fight. In the UFC there's usually a whole slew of guys on the undercard who they've gotten us familiar with, and tonight's UFC 139 card is perfect proof of that. There are at least 4 or 5 household names to MMA fans at the top of this card.

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Cung Le vs. Wanderlei Silva
Brian Bowles vs. Urijah Faber
Martin Kampmann vs. Rick Story
Stephan Bonnar vs. Kyle Kingsbury

Damn, how many former champions are on there? How about 6.

Here's the rest of the card and some videos, including the "Countdown to UFC 139" full episode...

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Ryan Bader vs. Jason Brilz
Michael McDonald vs. Alex Soto

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

Tom Lawlor vs. Chris Weidman
Nick Pace vs. Miguel Torres
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Gleison Tibau

UFC on Fox 1 is Just 2 Days Away!

If you're like me, you're pretty geeked that the UFC is on Fox this coming Saturday night. I love that this deal has been made and hope the ratings are through the roof. But this first show is both good and bad. The good of course is that we'll see heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez in a war with Junior Dos Santos for the heavyweight title. Hell yes. The bad? Well, that's all we'll see. 1 fight. And a fight that promises to be just f'n awesome, Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson, isn't going to be seen anywhere but Facebook and Fox.com. Now you tell me how I watch that in a bar? 1 fight broadcast on TV? Ridiculous. But it is what it is and the fight they're showing could get a lot more people interested in the UFC, so we'll see I guess.

But here's some cool vids for you to check out to get warmed up. 2 more days!

Here's the UFC on Fox pre-fight press conference from the Nokia Plaza with Dana White, Junior Dos Santos, Cain Velasquez and more:

UFC 137 Vids

Wow, I really feel like I'm ignoring my beloved UFC lately. I swear I'm not though! It's just my Cardinals got them another World Series last night and since about mid-September it's been a roller coaster of a ride with that team. Man, what a post season! Best I can remember.

But the UFC goes on. One of the reasons I guess I'm not too excited is because tonight was supposed to be GSP vs Diaz but that got all changed up then GSP vs Condit then GSP off the card altogether and now it's a good card, but not a great one. Let's have a looksee...

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

Nick Diaz vs. B.J. Penn
Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson
Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop
Jeff Curran vs. Scott Jorgensen

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Donald Cerrone vs. Dennis Siver
Tyson Griffin vs. Bart Palaszewski

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

Eliot Marshall vs. Brandon Vera
Danny Downes vs. Ramsey Nijem
Chris Camozzi vs. Francis Carmont
Dustin Jacoby vs. Clifford Starks

Good? Yes. Great? No. But you never know. Might be a great night of fights. Sadly I won't be watching it as I'll be out celebrating the Cards' win, Halloween and my (hopeful) completion of a half-marathon later this morning. It shall be a memorable, forgetful evening. But here's some preview vids just for you anyway:

http://fightnetwork.com/ - Fight Network (@FightNet) previews UFC 137 featuring B.J. Penn vs. Nick Diaz, Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione, Cro Cop vs. Roy Nelson, Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran and Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop taking place on Oct. 29, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bones vs Rampage

Please tell me that you already knew tonight was UFC 135 with Jon "Bones" Jones and Rampage Jackson finally getting at each other? Sure you did. What, you've been hidden under a rock or too busy watching X Factor or Dancing With The Stars? OK, start with this Countdown To UFC 135 video I guess:

Is Jones the "next big thing"? He has pretty much destroyed everybody put in front of him, most recently Mauricio Rua, Vladimir Matyushenko, Ryan Bader and Brandon Vera after getting DQ'd for illegal elbows (a ridiculous call) again Matt Hamill as he was murdering him.

Rampage is more in the twilight of his career with consecutive decisions over Lyoto Machida and Matt Hamill. But this is mixed-martial-arts. Anything can happen. Rampage looks good and seems very motivated, something which has been question in some recent fights.

Should be fun.

In fact the card has quite a few solid fights of interest on it. Here's the whole rundown:

Main Card (Pay-per-view)

* Champ Jon Jones vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (for light-heavyweight title)
* Matt Hughes vs. Josh Koscheck
* Rob Broughton vs. Travis Browne
* Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi
* Mark Hunt vs. Ben Rothwell

Prelims (Spike TV)

* Aaron Riley vs. Tony Ferguson
* Tim Boetsch vs. Nick Ring

Prelims (Facebook)

* Ricardo Romero vs. James Te Huna
* Cole Escovedo vs. Takeya Mizugaki
* Junior Assuncao vs. Eddie Yagin
